Description
WHY USE THESE PLANNERS FOR OSHC?
Because the OSHC daily planner templates have been specifically developed for your role and planning requirements! When you work as an educator in an outside school hours care service it can be difficult to find resources to meet your specific needs. The children are school age but you are not following a primary curriculum and still have to plan for a range of different ages with often limited storage space and no time off the floor to get that paperwork completed effectively!
Outside School Hours Care Educators & Leaders are expected to develop a simple cycle in which they gather and analyse information about children; plan to respond to their needs and interests in meaningful ways, and then reflect on what has happened and where the planning, activities and experiences might go next. Although this cycle is similar to early childhood care services it can be difficult for OSHC educators to work out how to modify for school-age care settings.
Working in this type of care service requires different skills and planning expectations to the 0-5 years early childhood services you might have experience in previously. I understand this because I have walked in those shoes and that's why I wanted to create this series, especially for OSHC & OOSH educators and leaders! I want to help make your job easier!
This Daily Planner Pack includes templates for Before School Care Sessions, After School Care Sessions and School Holiday Care Sessions. Choose the design style that suits you best – there is a black and white version, colour version, digital (type into and save) version and printable version. ALL INCLUDED IN THIS ONE PACK!!
Use OSHC Daily Planners to help you:
✅ Feel confident and organised for each session every day, identify any prep requirements, invite child and family participation and feedback, create quick reflection opportunities and to inform your forward planning without the need for child observations.
✅ Simplify and modify the planning cycle to suit your specific needs. The daily planners are designed to be used with your weekly/fortnightly or monthly master program. Plan as usual then add chosen activities and focus experiences to your daily planner to show an ongoing consideration of each child’s developmental needs, interests and experiences.
✅ Ensure your documentation is readily understood by other educators, parents and children.
✅ Provide fun and interactive ways for school age children to contribute thoughtfully to the planning, reflection and forward planning process – even if they attend the service infrequently or on a part time scale.
✅ Easily separate and keep records of information for different sessions – after school care, before school care and holiday care.
✅ Ensure your program consistently maintains and offers a focus on play and leisure opportunities that are meaningful to children.
✅ Offer children choices to select and access a variety of planned and ‘free range' leisure and learning activities each day making it easier for you to observe interactions and outcomes.
✅ Make it a simple process to regularly collect meaningful information about children, their families and communities to support your ongoing program development and ensure children attending the care service are able to become active participants in their own learning.
✅ Observe, Reflect, Review and plan in a way that makes sense for the unique needs of the outside school hours care setting.
✅ Demonstrate evidence of an ongoing process of collecting information, analysing the information collected and using it to inform future planning. You will be able to easily show the inclusion of the child's input and needs as well as the parents and other educators.
✅ Show evidence that you are offering a balance of experiences based on the children’s interests and also planned intentional opportunities that support learning and wellbeing.
