The gift of Christmas Spirit….

by The Empowered Educator 4 Comments

Yesterday i received a lovely visit from an older couple who have a house that adjoins our property. They grow and raise seedlings, fruit and veg to sell at our local markets……we are happy to let them use some of our acreage to do this as we aren't using it at the moment and it is nice to see the land being used for something so productive. They are always so appreciative even though it is no trouble for us and we are happy to do it. They came bearing gifts of home brewed ginger beer (with the warning to stand back when we open…just in case!), a huge bunch of healthy silverbeet (which left me wondering why mine doesn't look as good grown on the same land lol)and the biggest boiled Christmas pud i have ever seen!

Sorry about the photo quality…was in a hurry…..but i wanted to share such Christmas Spirit with you and reflect upon the fact that it is still out there! I have struggled a little to get into the spirit this year but acts of generosity like this really do warm the soul! This act of giving from the heart is really what it is all about.

I have also found myself getting a little excited (finally) in the last few days as we have had my Mum visiting from Brisbane QLD which is around a 3 hours drive from us…she had to leave today so we had a mini Christmas to celebrate with the girls and seeing how they have interacted with Mum in the last few days has been lovely…..but they aren't babies anymore….they really are growing into little girls now. I think they are going to enjoy Christmas morning…..mainly because they love cardboard and paper!

First experience of unwrapping a present……
Now i shall go and unwrap Ruby's to as she is too slow!
Big sis ‘Miss teen' and little sis Ruby
And just for fun we thought we would try out our Christmas dresses…..they looked so cute…and ladylike for a change!
Ruby's favourite activity of the week…wet sand play and she isn't going to let a new dress hold her back!
Her other fave activity is climbing and sitting on this rock….
Tara just loves spending time with big sis! Please don't look at the fringe i attempted to cut….what a shocking mother!
Cheeky motion shot….why oh why will they never stand still…or together when i get the camera out!
I'm a little bit tired but love my new push mower…
Well i am off for a well deserved cuppa…tomorrow i shall be in the kitchen as much as possible preparing for Christmas day with my little family and Dad who will be travelling down from QLD also to visit. Does anyone else find it hard even as an adult when their parents are divorced? I miss our big family Christmases…but we still manage to catch up and make new memories and for that i shall remain thankful. I am lucky to still have my parents in my life i know….my partner is not so lucky with both his parents now gone which is always hard this time of year…so hug those loved ones close and enjoy Christmas no matter how your family spends it!
Thanks for dropping by and your lovely comments over the last few months since i began blogging…it's opened my eyes to a whole new inspirational world!

    Love the dresses, great pictures!

I so enjoy your adventures, sometimes different than mine in the USA yet so much the same, too– I guess mamas are alike everywhere in that we all love our children so much.

    Merry Christmas, Jode. :o)

You’re so right, Jode, the giving spirit really IS still alive. I’ve felt it very much these last couple days, too. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
