Weekly Kid’s Co-Op – Walking the Hose!

by The Empowered Educator 12 Comments

It’s time to have fun with the Weekly Kid’s Co-Op again! The toddler twosome have alternated a vomiting bug this week so not much fun going on here…doesn’t mean i haven’t been inspired by all the wonderful activities linked up last week though!

I especially love reading about activities with other two year olds so i was pleased to find this great list of 10 things to do with a 2 yr old by At Home with Ali …There are some fantastic fun ideas for 2 yr olds as well as links to other sources of inspiration…we even got a mention!

This week I’m sharing a simple activity we had fun with on the weekend before the high temperatures and vomiting descended upon us!

Walking the Hose!

We have been practising our balance and coordination skills lately and the toddler twosome had such fun with this very simple activity!

I began by laying the hose out in quite a simple straight pattern so the girls could gain a little confidence…of course i had to have a go too just to show how it was done!

They walked with feet beside the hose first following the line….

And on occasion had a little traffic jam that needed to be sorted…we talked about going in the ‘same direction’ here….

They then started to gain a little confidence and began trying to balance on the hose as they moved around the line…..

I began to make it a little trickier and they had to climb up some rocks at the end of this one….

Curves and loops were great for testing the coordination!!

Up the hill and over the rocks….

Watching our feet with much concentration…..

And so proud when we reached the end each time! Please don’t look at Ruby’s dress…she took it out of the sewing pile again….i really HAVE to finish that hem soon!

You’d be suprised at how busy this little activity kept twin 2 yr olds!!

If you need even more inspiration why not have a look at the ideas pinned on the Kid’s Co-Op Pinterest Board! Each week the Co-Hosts will be pinning their favourites to the board which has a large following and thus great exposure for your activity! Oh lovely,
As I looked at the images of your girls walking the hose, one song was playing through my mind:
‘One grey elephant balancing, step by step on a piece of string. They thought it was such a wonderful sight that they called for another elephant.

    Thanks for sharing

This looks like such a fun idea Jode. I love the little learning opportunity with the two girls and them needing to have a little chat about direction:) Lovely photos, I hope everyone is feeling better now. xx

I can remember doing this as a child! Back in my day we had transparent bright green hose with holes along their length to water the grass. Balancing along them was great fun in summertime. ๐Ÿ™‚

Walking the hose looks like simple fun for the girls. I often dot he same at the beach with a line in the sand they have to follow
