When I first began thinking about getting back into the childcare field after a long break I was pleasantly surprised to read about some of the changes taking place including the introduction of the Early Years Learning Framework EYLF and the National Quality Standards. To someone who was first trained in this area over 20 years ago now I immediately noticed a shift back to some of the principles and practices that were important when I first began work.

Sturdy and weatherproof tables are a must and I use the cheap adjustable fold up ones that can be found at Bunnings, Officeworks and most stores now. They are light and easy to move around the yard to provide different experiences.

I do the majority of my messy play and craft outdoors and the children can come to and from the experience as many times as they like this way without needing to ‘pack away the mess'.

Thank you so much for posting this! I’m a former home daycare provider currently living in an apartment while we save up for a house. I’m bookmarking this page and site right now, then I’m off to like your Facebook page! Doing home daycare was so much fun, the only problem was finding time for doctor visits during the week! Now I have a doctor open on weekends, and my children are now 13-18. It’d be so lovely to hear children play, and to watch them as they learn something new. It’s such a wonderful moment to watch a child finally understand something. A piece of the life puzzle!
While we begin the search for a house, I’m trying to gather up as many ideas as possible for both inside and outside. I’m so glad I found your site browsing Google images! Again, thank you so much for sharing your information and pictures. I’ve toured other home daycares in our area and find they don’t even come close to my former daycare in materials, lessons, or equipment. Just about anyone can become a provider with minimal effort, but by having a niche and solid lesson plans even for the little ones (baby sign language was one thing I did), you can make a decent living with money left over to reinvest into more equipment, seeds, books, and field trips.
I have a feeling that you’d knock any home daycare out of the water here! I can see that you genuinely care for your young students.
Sorry for the ramble! I hope all is going well for you!
